Biography

The work of this violin-maker who originated from Quakenbrug, Germany, shows a perfect assimilation to that of his Dutch contemporaries; an elegant shaped instrument with long corners and well-made sound-holes. His work bears the signs of thorough training. His varnish is beautiful and of a soft composition. A noteworthy circumstance is that practically without exception, he used to trace double rows of purfling.
