Biography

Melchior Asseling was born in Leiden before 1622 and was the son of Andries Asseling. Melchior married in 1644 with Helena Despenteyn and moved to 's Gravenhage were he had his business as 'meester fioolmaecker'. His oldest son Johannes was also violinmaker.
