Biography
Wilhelm Paul Kunze, born in 1875 in Markneukirchen, was trained from 1889 to
1892 by a violin-maker in his place of birth. After working for half a year
in Leipzig, he went to Holland and never returned to Germany.
Successively he worked with Hampe and Kok in Amsterdam. In 1902 he started his
own workshop in Amsterdam, which he continued in 1904 in The Hague. Kunze was
the most productive violin-maker of his time. In 1912 he won the first prize
at a international concours in Paris.
