Biography

This violin-maker from the Tyrol settled at Leyden at an early age. He made violins and particulary violas which remind one of J. Cuypers, and in many respects also of Lefebvre. His conception is a little heavy, but technically well-executed. His varnish is identical to that of Cuypers, nearly always yellow and rather hard of composition.
